Functions

Health Intelligence Bureau (HIB) provides reliable and timely statistics to all data seekers and undertakes regular assessment of data needs for informed decision making.

HIB primararily collects data from all Peripheral Health Institutions i.e. Hospitals, Community Health Centres (CHCs), Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Urban Health Centres (UHCs), Rural Medical Dispensaries (RMDs) and Sub-Centres (SCs) under Directorate of Health Services. Data is collected on Outdoor/Indoor patients, Communicable Diseases, Non-Communicable Diseases, Animal Bite, Snake Bite, Hydrophobia, Hospital & PHC Activities, Morbidity, Mortality, etc.

Data collected is scrutinised, analysed, classified and compiled to generate consolidated report and disseminate it to various State & Central Government Departments/ Organisations.

Besides data collection this section periodically provides information on following subjects to:

Directorate of Planning, Statistics & Evaluation – Sustainable Development Goals, Central Sponsored Schemes, Economic Survey, Explanatory Memorandum, Status of Budget Assurance, Budget Speech, Governors Speech, Goa at Glance, Socio-Economic Indicator, Twenty-point programme, Goa Economy in figures, Statistical Handbook, etc.
Others Departments (State & Centre) – Annual Administrative Report, Performance Budget, Rural Health Statistics, Scheduled Caste & Scheduled Tribe Sub-Plan, Human Resource & Infrastructure, etc.

Division also deals with updating of Citizen Charter; Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha & Goa Legislative Assembly questions of this directorate.
